What Are We?

The Prodigal Sons is a nonprofit organization that seeks to help our residents bridge the gap between achieving sobriety and making a fresh start in their personal lives. We aim to better serve this purpose by identifying the missteps and chronic issues that arise with other sober living environments and then mitigate those obstacles with the help of community donations and careful planning.

The function of a sober living house is to provide a safe and drug-free living environment for men who have recently graduated a recovery program. These homes traditionally include regular drug testing, required participation in recovery programs, enforced limitations on curfews and guests, the chance to recover alongside a community of fellow addicts and reduced, short-term rental rates. However, it is all too common for these homes to fall into deplorable conditions, with inadequate space to accommodate its ever-expanding tenant population. We believe that desperate and impoverished living circumstances like these promote a cycle of reverted drug use, readmission to recovery centers and back to these same sober livings, over and over again. We believe that this cyclical system is robbing these men of a fair shot of reaching their full potential in permanent recovery.

Why Are We?

At The Prodigal Sons, we aim to create conditions that promote healing for not just the body; but the soul as well. With this in mind, our house was designed with a calming palette, lots of natural light, masculine elements and custom woodwork throughout. Our home boasts 7 bedrooms, 5 full bathrooms, and 2 kitchens. There is a large dining room for community events and meetings, and a conservatory we affectionately dubbed ‘The Prayer Room’.  Essential kitchen, hygiene and paper products are provided to our tenants at no additional charge.

Space is ample and cleanliness is prioritized.

Here, our residents are able to access amenities, provisions, and conditions unavailable to them elsewhere. With their physical needs met, we find that tenants are better able to envision the possibilities a drug-free future can offer them. We believe that this peaceful environment will be key in achieving the mental clarity essential for long-term commitment in sobriety.

How Are We?

Hi! We are Jeremy and Cora Dircks and we are small business owners and proud parents in Campbellsville, Kentucky.  About a year ago, we developed a close relationship with a group of men who shared with us their personal journeys of addiction and recovery. During the course of this friendship, we learned quite a lot about their struggles and were dismayed to find that local sober-living options offered little more than a bed, and no real path to recovery. After thoughtful prayer, we felt a personal calling to do something about it. Thus, The Prodigal Sons was born. Our philosophy follows the Parable it’s named for – that forgiveness is available to you no matter how far you’ve strayed. God is waiting for your return and we aim to facilitate that reunion at

The Prodigal Sons Mission House.
